In the castle and its various wings there are 14 delightful bedrooms, each one different, with every bespoke item chosen carefully by Leija for charm, authenticity, elegance and comfort.

Above are some of the rooms. Every room has a lovely view of Skottorp park, each with a different ambience, different colour scheme, and unique bespoke items made by carpenters or found at antique shops and markets. Each room seems lovelier than the next one.
Sometimes a group of guests is walked around all the rooms to let them vote for their own favourite – and see if they can win that room for the duration of their stay. The rooms are so different and so lovely that most rooms usually get at least one vote. All 14 have private bathrooms with shower or bath.

Bedroom backstory

Creating these beautiful personal sanctuaries for guests took years. Leija searched Sweden for the most authentic and gracious items for the rooms – from pictures to bedside tables – combing antique shops and auction sites.  Sometimes she used clever technique to convert new items to “old” – for example she washed modern patterned mats until they became soft and faded like the genuinely antique mats that lie elsewhere in the castle.
